General Information / Terms and Conditions


We prefer to issue a written quotation to you based on the kitchen plan/design.  All quotations are made and orders accepted subject to availability. The Company reserves the right to withdraw or amend the quote at any time prior to the Company’s acceptance of the Customer order. The company also reserves the right to alter any quotation following the site visit.  The customer will be informed accordingly before work commences.


Before the order accepted it is the responsibility of the Customer to ensure that the order reflects their requirements, there is no information missing, which would alter or change the job description therefore possibly the quote as well.

The quality, quantity and specification of the goods will be set out on accepted quotation, subject to the following:

  • When samples has been submitted identical resemblance of the product supplied to the sample cannot be guaranteed.
  • All natural materials supplied are subject to their natural markings, veinings, variations in colour, cracks and vents. These are supplied cramped, stopped or reinforced where necessary and no claim on this account can be made.
  • All thickness quoted are nominal and no liability is accepted for reasonable variations of whatsoever nature

Payment terms

50% deposit when the order is placed – for material order and to book template in

50% balance  – CLEAR FUNDS – required BEFORE installation or delivery of goods.

Payments can be done by debit/credit card (over the phone or in person) or by BACS payment.  Please note Credit card payments incur a 2.5% fee.

Middlesex Marble reserves the right to charge 2% interest rate per month on unpaid balances (whether before or after any judgement)



The cost of the template is incorporated in your quote unless it is stated otherwise ( supply only)

In case of supply only – any measurements provided by the customer are the liability of the customer.

No claim will be accepted subsequently should you change your mind after templating or  fitting.

If you wish to cancel the order following the template, a fee of £ 200 will be deducted from your deposit for the template.

If we arrive on site and we are unable to carry out the template there may be a charge of £200 applied.

All orders must be templated to ensure accuracy of workmanship and quotation. You or your authorised representative must be present to go through your requirements with the Templater on site.  We need to understand your requirements and explain exactly how we are going to achieve them. At this stage all the details will be finalised with our fitter, which means once we have templated there can’t be any changes or additions.

You will be required to sign off the templates that meets your requirements and no claim will be accepted should your requirements change or you change your mind after the templating.

We would like the template/installation of your kitchen work tops to be as smooth as possible.  Therefore there are requirements we need in place so we can best achieve this.  If you have a builder or kitchen fitter involved in your works this information should be passed on to them.


Requirements for templating:

Manufacturer’s recommendation/approval. We strongly advise customers fitting granite/marble/quartz worktops to confirm with their kitchen manufacturer that their units will support the weight of the stone worktops. (Solid granite weights appr. 90 kgs per square metre) We cannot accept responsibility for damage to units that has been caused by weight of the worktops we have fitted.

Sink & Tap, Pop up sockets – to be on site alongside with anything else that will need to be incorporated into the production

Hob / Range cooker – to be on site.

Kitchen units to be in position and level – All units must be perfectly level and extra support provided around void spaces for appliances and cut outs for sinks and hobs.

Please be aware that if the cabinets are not level this may your Granite/Quartz/Marble to crack on installation. Middlesex Marble Ltd cannot be held responsible for any damages caused by cabinets not being installed correctly or moved to any extent after templating or installation.

Kitchen units/cabinets to be screwed to the wall – As above, if the units are not attached to the walls this will not allow us to template accurately and during installation cracking of the worktops may occur.

Island – If an island is involved the island base units will need to be fixed to the floor and be level and be in a permanent position.

Sockets – If you are having granite/quartz/marble splashbacks or upstands we would recommend that any sockets on this part of the wall should be relocated. This is much nicer to the eyes as well as less expensive option than cutting the holes in the granite/quartz/marble, for which we would charge extra.

Ample access to the property and maximum lengths –The maximum length will be affected by slab size, size of required cut outs, access, stairs, service lift size and the fragile nature of some stones. Middlesex Marble Ltd reserves the right to add joints whenever we feel it to be necessary alongside with guidelines of weights, handling, access, health & safety.

Plastering Work – If any plastering work or other finishes on the wall are required, they will need to be completed prior to the template, apart from tiling which will need to be done after the fitting of the work top.  For obvious reasons if the walls are plastered after the template the work tops will not fit.

Support for undermount sink  – Undermounted sinks should be supported with batons or shelves to take the weight of the sink when it is in use.

Clear surface before templating – All cupboards, kitchen base units must be cleared for templating.


The cost of delivery and installation is included in the estimate provided (unless it is stated otherwise)

You or your authorised representative must be present at delivery and/or installation to thoroughly check everything meets your requirements, to examine quality. You will be required to sign off the Installation sheet as a confirmation you are happy with the work carried out.

Timescales – We will generally deliver / install your product within 10 – 15 working days from templating (depending on stock levels and demand ), assuming there are no major alterations, difficulties or changes to the detail previously provided.

We do however reserve the right to alter our installation date if need arises (for example breakages can and do occur during the manufacturing process – should this occur delays will be inevitable, but your job will be always prioritised in such an instant)

Temporary/Old worktops – All temporary or old worktops should be removed – unless the quote is including this.

Hob/sink/tap removed and disconnected before installation so it is ready for the new worktop to be placed on the top.

Void spaces  – Any void spaces for appliances should have a baton put on the wall at the back to support the back of the stone.

Un-supported wall areas -In particular corners may also need additional support , which our templater/installer would have advised you on templating, and this this needs to be in position before we install.

A metal bar or wooden baton should be inserted at the front and the back of the cupboard containing the hob cut out and overmounted sinks, onto which the stone can be glued, to provide extra support for the strip of stone at the front.

Access – The access to the property and to the kitchen/bathroom should be clear and the ground even to prevent injuries and breakage when the stone worktops is being carried into the kitchen/bathroom.

Disclaimer/The small print

There will be an element of decorating required after the work tops are installed.  Usually this is something like a decorative finish between the back of our work top and the wall or the top of the up stand and the wall.  Please note that Middlesex Marble will not be responsible for any decorative finishes – for example caulking between the upstands and the wall, top of the wall panels in bathrooms, etc

Once materials have been ordered and put into production we cannot accept cancellation or guarantee that amendments can be made from matching materials.

The goods remain the property of Middlesex Marble until full payments of the goods has been received.

Middlesex Marble must be notified of ANY claim by the customer which is based on any defect on quality or condition of the goods within three days from the date of delivery/installation. Where any valid claim in respect of the goods which is based on any defect in the quality or condition of the goods or their failure to match their description is notified to Middlesex Marble, the Company shall be entitled to replace the goods (or the part in question) free of charge or, at the discretion of the company refund to the customer the price of the good ( or appropriate amount of the price) but the Company shall have no further liability to the customer.

Our work top installers are not qualified for any electrical or plumbing works so please do not ask them to carry out any of these works.  They are also not equipped for carpentry works that may be required for example to make your sink fit in a unit.  They will point out any of these works required to you or your builder at the template.

Middlesex Marble does not accept liability for any product after installation, where we have not been responsible for installing the product.

If you are having new work tops fitted and we are removing your old work tops you will need a plumber at the start of the day to remove your old sink and disconnect your hob if required.  You may also need an electrician to disconnect any appliances required such as the hob.

Middlesex Marble will not be held responsible for any damage to the walls / tiles during the removal of old worktops.

The sink must be left for 24 hrs after templating to give the silicon time to dry. Please ONLY arrange your plumber to do the plumbing work after this 24 hrs period.

When handling granite /quartz/marble the fitters are extremely careful, however no responsibility can be taken for damage to cupboard fronts or wall fixings and we should advise customers to remove them prior to fitting and or remedial work.

Templating and manufacturing the stone is not an exact science ad slight tolerances in both overhangs and thickness to be expected.

Walls are rarely straight and as such, natural wall gaps may occur, It is advisable to have upstands (or full height splashbacks) fitted unless the customer intends to tile.

Cut outs – information supplied by the customer such as cut out dimensions, overhangs, splashback, and positioning of cut outs given to Middlesex Marble at the time of order or subsequently given by any other methods of communication is the customer’s liability and no liability whatsoever can be taken for incorrectly advised of the above.

Unsupported joints – some flexing can occur which can result in them opening ad repairs may be necessary. However this can be exasperated by owners standing on their stone surfaces or placing heavy items on the work surface. Please avoid.

Once materials have been ordered and put into production we cannot accept liability or guarantee that amendments can be made from matching materials.

Any descriptions of material offered are for guideance only and do not imply suitability for any particular purpose.

The company shall not be liable for failure to deliver goods if failure is due to reasons beyond the Company’s reasonable control.

Middlesex Marble shall be under no liability in respect of any defect arising from wear and tear, wilful damage, negligence, abnormal working conditions, failure to follow the Company’s instructions (whether oral or in writing) , misuse or alteration or repair of the goods without the Company’s approval.

Granite and Marble are 100% natural materials and as such may have variations in the colour.  Veining will occur, this is a characteristic of natural stone and does not constitute a defect.  The customer must become aware of the likely presence of natural markings not always present in samples provided or seen.  We strongly recommend personal selection of slabs.  Due to the natural nature of the material, the company accepts no liability for the slabs it may choose on behalf of the customer.

As with any high quality work surface, care should be taken.  We do not recommend any hot pans be placed directly onto the surface for any period of time.  Care should be exercised when spillages occur.  Hot fat, oils and wines, cigarette, lemon juice, detergents or acidic /alkaline substances should be removed immediately to prevent any possibility of staining.  Granite / Marble are natural stones and will therefore absorb liquids, but if cleaned immediately they will not deface the surface.  Under no circumstances should cutting or dicing be done directly on to the work surface.

Middlesex Marble will not accept responsibility for damage caused to the worktop due to heavy pans or items dropped on the worktop causing indentations or chips after installation.
