Calacatta Portugal
White/brown/cream/grey (Portugal)
Beautiful cream marble with browns, greys and lighter whites. An addition to the calacatta family. These materials are almost forgotten about in Portugal, but the best blocks are very similar to those quarried in Italy. The Portuguese quarries were founded by the romans who discovered the stones to have very similar properties to the ones found in Tuscany.
The Romans prized Calacatta Portugal marble for its resemblance to the precious stone of Italy. With a creamy hue, and both bold and delicate rivulets of rich browns, greys and whites, the finer examples of this Portuguese marble live up to the exalted Calacatta name.
